On days so frozen that you literally can’t feel your feet, you deserve a pick me up. You do! Believe it. In some cases that may mean wearing something a little funky or unexpected. Enter this coat that was passed down to me, but I’ve had the hardest time trying to figure out when to wear it. You would think living and working in NYC I would be liberated and ready to don this pretty, but it’s only remained an occasional piece, until this afternoon.

For some reason when paired with some lighthearted pieces like this woven headband, and classic winter boots, it felt carefree and fresh to me. It also was warm, which was obviously top of mind.

Anyone else out there having a similar fur coat dilemma? I’d love to hear any pairings that have worked for you!

Oh Monday morning, we are not friends. Or in these picture’s case, Thursday morning after a loooong holiday. I can barely pull myself together and out the door in time sometimes, so often looking the part is difficult. There’s not anything novel about this outfit- it’s simple and it works for me. Not only does it employ layers (essential for freezing offices and wheezing furnaces) but it uses different textures which you can claim took a lot of thought to put together (tweeds, suedes, etc.) but doesn’t.

Other trusty recipes for weekday success include:

knit sweater + statement necklace + fitted pants + smoking slippers

shift dress + blazer + textured tights + boots

What do you all fall back on for those trusty work outfits?? Tell me, tell me! Bookmark this post and let me know how your Monday goes please.

It’s hard to get out the door on a rainy, snowy (whatever that slushy mix was!) morning. One thing I have learned is that any piece with a touch of fur gives a look that taste of glamour that instantly finishes it off. I also adore this flowy blousy top that I found on a thrifting trip; the pair of the two pieces gives almost a 70’s vibe – which I don’t mind in the least. Totally picturing this look with a middle part pony tail and some hope earrings ….

Other ways to style fur:

  • Fitted top + harem or pj-inspired pants
  • Baseball cap + boyfriend jeans
  • Maxi skirt/dress + felt hat

How about you, is fur still a sure thing in your closet? Let me know in the comments, I could talk about this for hours …

In Lieu of Nemo

In Lieu of Nemo

As I type this the outside world is waking up to a world tucked under a blanket of snow. I’m sorta loving it. I know the practical response now is, “when can I get outside?” and “what am I going to wear.”

I can’t answer the first question, but with some help from our street style friends, I can certainly answer the second.

Major talking points: layer everything you got: sweater, blazer, fur/outerwear (in whatever order you choose), knit scarf or fur collar, sunnies, knit hat or fedora, fitted pants (preferably with room for long underwear?) and black boots.

Stay warm, and stay stylish this weekend! xx

I may or may not have been dressing in accordance with the overcast weather we’ve been having?
