A little bit of school boy

A perfect day basking in the river breezes, with a favorite pair of tweed shorts (a great piece for fall wouldn’t you say)? This outfit had a little bit of a school boy with a contemporary twist. With a longer pair of shorts, and a updated few accessories, getting dressed in the morning stays interesting.

A few quick shots before running out the door for another busy day. I’m so happy to have these new black flats with a little luxe (see the gold heel). Sometimes it’s the small details that make a basic really work for you. In other news, this is one of the bags I picked up at the Phillip Lim for Target insanity. That’s right, I was one of those crazed fashion people breathing on the glass of the Target door at 8 AM on Sunday morning. Worth it.

Happy almost weekend!

A look that’s effortless, and can be thrown on in the haze that is waking up an hour late. That’s this outfit my friends. If you find yourself in a situation similar to me, start with a basic dress and then choose accessories that complement in hue. Plus if you’re feeling brave you can definitely choose a contrasting pattern to finish the look.

I promise you’ll get compliments.

A few things about this outfit – first, this shirt satisfies my desire to try out the “pajama” trend that has been popular for a few seasons now. I love the white piping detail especially when on a traditional flowy blouse. Secondly, this shoes probably are my most “out there” shoe, they’re a little BA don’t you think? With the line detailing on both the blouse, jeans, and lace-up front of the shoes, the look is unified, and pretty easy too.

Hope everyone’s enjoying their weekend! xo

I can’t believe it’s already mid-September …  something far more believable is me still finding ways to wear shorts when appropriate.

As I’ve mentioned to some friends, I’ll start celebrating Fall when my calendar says September 20th. Until then, I’m still enjoying my past seasons fare. What can I say? There’s something to savoring each present moment (even if it’s a fashion one).

The week leading up to a long and leisurely holiday weekend is always the hardest, right? I’ve taken to wearing a typically summer skirt that moves with me wherever I go, especially through each 9-5 countdown to (Thank God it’s) Friday!

What are your plans for this Labor Day Weekend?

A few purple things that have been currently appearing in my apartment/outfit rotation/or shopping cart. Apparently, I’m having  an appreciation for all things purple recently.

Maybe this is my way to reconcile one half of my alma mater’s school colors (Go JMU Dukes!) in my own personal purple out.
